Bioconjugation is increasingly becoming an important area of molecular biology research. DNA-peptide conjugates, for example, have been identified as targets for cell delivery of oligonucleotides. Using our OPeC™ conjugation strategy, peptide and oligonucleotide units are easily assembled separately on their own supports. The components can then be conjugated by selective reaction of their incorporated functionalities.

Aside from our OPeC™ reagents, we also offer other products ideally suited to bioconjugation and/or immobilisation in e.g. microarrays.

Formylindole Modifier can be incorporated either internally or at the 5'-end of an oligonucleotide. The aldehyde is freely available for bioconjugation with e.g. hydroxylamines, hydrazines or semicarbazides. Aldehydes have also been suggested as a means of immobilising oligonucleotides onto solid surfaces in microarrays.

The use of 5'-Carboxylate Modifier allows the introduction of a carboxylic acid function at the 5'-end of an oligonucleotide that is available for conjugation to amines whilst still on the solid support.

For immobilisation of oligonucleotides onto gold or silver surfaces see Thioctic Acid NHS Ester.
