Labelling of an oligonucleotide with multiple fluoresceins

In theory, there should be no problem adding multiple fluoresceins to an oligonucleotide. This will work better where  the fluoresceins are spaced along the oligo. Where they are all at the terminus the fluoresceins will interact with each other, the overall fluorescence of the molecule will be reduced and the full effect of making the further additions is negated.
